The Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co. Ltd operated stage-carriage services across a vast network in the Midlands region, built up from the company's birth in 1904. Long distance coach services spanning the United Kingdom and extended tours began in the 1920's. Midland Red, as the company was better known, was unique in that between 1923 and 1970, it designed and constructed most of its own vehicles. One such vehicle was the C5 coach which was first introduced in 1958. The 37 seat coach was based on the Midland Red's S15 dual purpose bus, but the striking front ends disguised this fact.
This Original Omnibus Company model, features 780 GHA, fleet number 4780. It is typical of a 1960s vehicle on a trip to Llandudno - a North Wales resort then popular with people from the Birmingham area. 4780 has survived as is currently being restored in Northamptonshire.
