The Fowler 4-MT, designed by Sir Henry Fowler and introduced by the LMS late in 1927 was, as the coding suggests, suitable for mixed traffic. Used mainly to haul Suburban trains in and out of London, these powerful 4-6-2 locomotives eventually numbered 600 in the class, although there were only 125 of the Fowler types built. This Super Detail model represents one of these 125 and boasts sprung buffers, pick-ups on all drive wheels which are powered by a 5 pole skew wound motor.
