0-6-0ST Class S SECR Profile and Models
No. 1685. Date unknown. ©Public Domain
The SECR identified a need for a heavy shunting locomotive to be used at Richborough Port during WW1. Maunsell fulfilled this by converting a C class locomotive into a saddle tank - a single S class was produced, No. 685. After the war ended, the locomotive was moved to Bricklayers' Arms, where it operated as a shunter until 1951 and was then scrapped. |
