A small fleet of Class 1366 locomotives were designed by Charles Collett for use as dockyard shunters in the Great Western Railway region. The class was developed from the earlier 1361 class but featured pannier tanks instead, the 1361s unusually (for the GWR) were built as saddle tanks. Aside from their dockyard work, the class were sometimes seen hauling boat trains along the tight Weymouth tramway. They saw usage well into the 1960s with BR thanks to their light weight and short wheelbase making them useful shunters.
