0-6-0ST Class 1361 GWR Profile and Models

0-6-0ST Class 1361 GWR

No. 1363 at Didcot Railway Centre. Date unknown. © Barry Lewis

The Great Western Railway produced a small fleet of Class 1361 locomotives for use as dock shunters and in sidings where track curvature was too tight for large locomotives. The class was essentially an update of the 1392 class produced in 1874 and had an unusual design due to combining “outdated” features from the original class with modern GWR features such as the cab, bunker and minor fittings. The locomotives saw use at dockyards, sidings and workshops across the South West.
