The fleet of PGA hopper wagons were produced by Standard Wagon of Heywood to replace the ageing fleet of HTV wagons, designed at the start of British Railways.  Initially built for Redland, but later operated by other companies - these wagons provided the ability to haul significantly larger loads than ever before and improved the efficiency of loading and unloading. Several can still be seen in use to this day.
