British Rail created 60 Diagram 1/60 'Conflat P' wagons for use on their new "Condor" express freight service between England and Scotland, which was introduced in 1959. The wagons were rebuilt from existing Diag. 1/431 and 1/432 plate wagons and were fitted with roller bearings and new suspension along with a central girder to carry one Type BD container and one Type A container. The Conflat Ps were in service with the "Condor" until 1964 when they were replaced with bogie wagons. Now redundant, the fleet were rebuilt as "Timber Ps" and were a common sight on timber traffic in the West Highlands until 1981.
