The Powell Duffryn built batch of JHA aggregate hopper wagons were produced in the early 1990s to satisfy a requirement for new higher capacity aggregate carrying wagons. All were outshopped in the distinctive ARC livery but have since been repainted to wear the Hanson colour scheme. The fleet is notable for its use of distinctive inside bearing TF1 low track force bogies. As with the Orenstein & Koppell built JHAs, they were produced as two variations (middle and end) and are designed to work in set block formations. The end hoppers feature buffers, with the middle variations featuring a closer coupling mechanism. (Information provided via Wikipedia) |
